North Dakota State Picked to Win Summit League Women's Golf Title

ELMHURST, Ill. - There will be a new champion for the first time in Summit League women's golf history, and North Dakota State is the favorite according to a poll of the league's nine head coaches released Thursday, Jan. 31.
Oral Roberts won all 15 previous titles before moving to the Southland Conference. North Dakota State had 63 points and seven of the eight available first-place votes in the poll. IUPUI was second with 56 points and two first-place votes.
Kansas City was third, Oakland fourth, and Western Illinois fifth. South Dakota State, Fort Wayne, Omaha and South Dakota took the final four spots in order.
The Bison return defending two-time individual champion and three-time Summit League Golfer of the Year Amy Anderson, who led the league by more than 2 1/2 strokes with a 73.46 average in the fall.
NDSU has four golfers in the league's top 20. Sophomore Sarah Storandt is 12th with a 79.31 average, freshman Hailey Boner is 16th with an 80.54, and junior Abby Knutson is 19th with an 80.77.
North Dakota State will play four tournaments before the Summit League championship April 22-24 at Sky Creek Ranch Golf Club in Keller, Texas. The Bison open the spring schedule Feb. 25-26 at UC Irvine.
