NDSU Picked Second in Summit League Men's Golf Poll

ELMHURST, Ill. - The North Dakota State men's golf team was picked to finish second in The Summit League according to a preseason poll of the league's nine head coaches released Wednesday, Jan. 30.
Kansas City was picked to win the league with seven of the eight available first-place votes and 60 points, NDSU had one first-place vote and 52 points, Fort Wayne was third, Oakland fourth and South Dakota State fifth.
Defending league champion IUPUI was picked sixth and had one first-place vote. Western Illinois, South Dakota and Omaha rounded out the poll in order.
NDSU has three of the league's top eight golfers through the fall portion of the schedule. Senior Nathan Anderson is second in the league with a 71.86 average less than half a stroke behind UMKC's Korbin Kuehn (71.50).
Bison sophomore Trent Olson is fourth in the league with a 72.79 average, sophomore Bill Carlson is eighth at 73.07, freshman Connor Holland is 17th with a 75.07 average, and senior Nate Varty is 25th at 76.86.
North Dakota State placed fifth at last year's Summit League championship, 12 shots back of IUPUI and Southern Utah. IUPUI won in a one-hole playoff.
The Bison will play three spring tournaments before the Summit League championship April 22-24 at Sky Creek Ranch Golf Club in Keller, Texas. NDSU opens at the Rice Intercollegiate on Monday, Feb. 4, and Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Westwood Golf Club in Houston.
