North Dakota State University women's softball coach Darren Mueller announced Nov. 14 that two student-athletes -- outfielder Courtney Johnson (Fargo, N.D. / North H.S.) and pitcher Katie Thun (Hermantown, Minn. / Hermantown H.S.) -- have signed national letters of intent to play softball and continue their education at NDSU.

OF COURTNEY JOHNSON Bat: L Throw: L (Fargo, N.D./North H.S.) HIGH SCHOOL: Six-year starter in center field for Fargo North High School ... Selected to the 2012 all-state and all-East region team ... Nominated for Easton's all-region team ... In 2012, hit .576 with five home runs and 35 RBI setting numerous records for North ... Had a .627 on-base percentage and went 17 for 17 in stolen bases ... Member of the Spartans' 2009 state runner-up softball team ... Two-year starter at power forward for North basketball team and was a member of the 2011 state championship team ... Two-year starter at setter and right side hitter for Spartans' volleyball team ... PERSONAL: Daughter of Chris and Suzanne Johnson ... Has two sisters, Kaytlyn and Sydney ... Father attended NDSU ... Plans to major in secondary education.
