Henning's School-Record 36 Digs Leads Bison to Split at Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. - North Dakota State libero Andrea Henning set a school record for digs and the North Dakota State women's volleyball team salvaged a split on the final day of the Wisconsin InnTowner Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 8.
Henning set a four-set match record with 36 digs in the 25-11, 28-30, 25-19, 25-20 victory over Drake. She passed the four-set mark of 34 digs by Kari Fagnan against Western Illinois in 2007 and it was the second largest overall total in school history.
Brynn Joki led North Dakota State with 15 kills and 19 digs in North Dakota State's 25-22, 25-20, 25-23 loss to Wisconsin in the first match of the day. Megan Lambertson and Jenni Fassbender each had six kills for the Bison (3-6).
NDSU outhit Drake .262 to .110 including a .536 mark in the first set with 15 kills and zero attacking errors. The Bison outblocked Drake 13 1/2 to 5. Carissa Whalen was in on seven blocks and Joki and Lambertson had five each.
Bentley Mancini, Cassie Effken and Jadranka Tramosljanin had 11 kills each for Drake and libero Sarah Madden made 32 digs.
North Dakota State raced out to a 16-6 lead against Wisconsin in the first set, but the Badgers scored six straight points to spark a 13-3 run and tied the game at 19 before going on to win.
Ellen Chapman had 12 kills, Julie Mikaelsen had 11 kills, and Annemarie Hickey made 17 digs for the Badgers, who outhit NDSU .228 to .187.
North Dakota State is scheduled to play Minnesota at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at the Sports Pavilion in Minneapolis. The Golden Gophers are 6-1 after splitting a pair of 3-1 matches at Texas on Thursday and Friday.
