Bison Move Up to No. 8 in Women’s Cross Country Regional Rankings
Release: October 29, 2012
Two days after successfully defending its Summit League title, the North Dakota State women's cross country team climbed one spot to No. 8 in the Midwest region in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional rankings.
The No. 8 ranking is NDSU's highest of the season. The Bison spent two weeks at No. 10 to open the year, followed by three weeks at No. 12 and a week at No. 9 in the most recent rankings.
Each of NDSU's top five runners placed in the top 15 overall on Oct. 27 to give the Bison their second consecutive Summit League title. Freshman Brecca Wahlund claimed a runner-up finish, and juniors Heidi Peterson and Maddie McClellan joined Wahlund as first-team All-Summit League performers by placing fourth and seventh, respectively.
The Bison will compete at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Springfield, Mo., on Nov. 9.
