Olson Leads Bison on First Day at Sam Houston State

HUNTSVILLE, Texas - Trent Olson shot a 1-under-par 70 in the second round to lead the North Dakota State men's golf team at the Harold Funston Invitational on Monday, Oct. 8, at Raven Nest Golf Club.

Olson is eight shots back in a tie for fourth place with a 1-over-par 143 and North Dakota State is in second place 25 shots behind tournament host Sam Houston State heading into Tuesday's final round.

NDSU shot a 290 in the first round and 296 in the second round for a total of 586.  Tyler Junior College is third (594), Texas-Pan American fourth (605), Jacksonville Community College fifth (614) and Texas Southern sixth (665).

NDSU's Bill Carlson shot a 1-under 70 in the first round and is alone in 10th place with a 4-over 146, Connor Holland is tied for 12th with a 148, Nathan Anderson is tied for 19th with a 150, and Nate Varty is 32nd with a 158.

Sam Houston State's Micah Hill is the individual leader at 7-under 135 and teammate Logan Boatner is second at 2-under 140.
