Anderson, NDSU Post Three School Records to Win Navy Fall Classic

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The North Dakota State men's golf team had the top three individual finishers and posted three school records to win the Navy Fall Classic by 15 shots on Sunday, Sept. 9, at the Naval Academy Golf Course.

North Dakota State, which tied a 2003 school record with a 289 in Saturday's opening round, finished with a 3-under-par 565 and broke the NDSU 36-hole tournament record of 593 also set in 2003.

NDSU senior Nathan Anderson won the individual title with a 4-under-par 138, tying the NDSU 36-hole tournament record set by Eric Johnson at Navy in 2006.

Anderson won by three shots over NDSU teammate Bill Carlson, who finished at 1-under 141, and third place went to NDSU's Trent Olson and Delaware's Brendan Shattuck at even-par 142.

NDSU's Nate Varty finished in a three-way tie for eighth place with a 2-over 144 and Connor Holland tied for 34th at 8-over 150.

St. Bonaventure was second in the 15-team tournament with a 580, Temple was third (584), St. Francis fourth (585) and Brown fifth (586).

North Dakota State is scheduled to host the Erv Kaiser Invitational on Monday, Sept. 17, and Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Oxbow Country Club.
