2012 SEASON (JUNIOR): Went 1-1 with a save and a 3.20 ERA...Pitched 19 2/3 innings over 16 relief appearances...Emerged as a dependable situational reliever in late April...Zero earned runs over his last nine games spanning 10 1/3 innings...Winning pitcher in Game 4 at North Dakota when he pitched a perfect eighth inning in a 4-3 game...Season-high three strikeouts in two innings of work against Minot State...Earned a save in Game 4 against Oakland with an inning-ending double play in the eighth and scoreless ninth in a 3-2 win...Pitched out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam with a ground ball and double play in the eighth with NDSU trailing 2-1 in an eventual 3-2 extra-inning win over Oakland at the Summit League tournament...Entered another bases-loaded situation and got two inning-ending DPs in the sixth and seventh to preserve a 1-0 deficit to Oral Roberts in the first championship game...JUNIOR COLLEGE: Outfielder and pitcher during the 2010 and 2011 seasons at Itasca Community College in Grand Rapids, Minn...Hit .322 with 19 RBIs over 36 games his sophomore year and went 1-0 with a save and 5.31 ERA in 20 1/3 innings over six appearances...Hit .313 as a freshman with 12 RBIs...Went 1-4 on the mound with two saves and a 7.39 ERA in 12 appearances...Averaged a strikeout per inning over his two seasons...HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in 2009 from Fergus Falls High School...Three-year starter and team MVP twice...Led the Otters to a Class 2A state runner-up finish in 2009 going 5-1 on the mound with two saves and a 2.47 ERA...Had 54 strikeouts and only 17 walks in 39 2/3 innings...Hit .367 over his final two seasons, including a .375 average as a junior...Also participated in basketball...PERSONAL: Born Oct. 12, 1990...Son of Kevyn and Nancy Heck of Fergus Falls...Has younger twin brothers, Nick and Luke...Majoring in electrical engineering...Interned two years and has been hired to work for a power company in his hometown upon graduation. |
