Box Score LAS VEGAS, Nev.--Senior Abby Plucker reached 1,000 career points in the first half, but host UNLV defeated North Dakota State 76-57 in the BTI Invitational played Monday, Dec. 19, at Cox Pavilion.
North Dakota State (2-10) is scheduled to play Northwestern (9-1) at 7 p.m. (Central) Tuesday, Dec. 20, in final game at the tournament. The Wildcats play Kansas State in Monday's second game.
Plucker, a 5-foot-11 forward from Parker, S.D., nailed a three-pointer with 14:13 left in the first half to pass the 1,000-point mark. Plucker becomes the 29th women's basketball player to reach the milestone. She finished with 14 points and has 1,011 in her career.
Plucker scored 10 points in the first half, hitting all four field goal attempts including a pair of three-points as the Bison were able to build a lead. There were four lead changes and four ties in the opening period.
Hannah Linz tallied nine of her 15 points in the first half. NDSU led 27-23 with 7:22 left as Janae Burich made one of two free throws.
However, UNLV (9-3) went on a 16-4 run after that to take a 39-31 halftime lead.
Kellie Thompson took over after that for the Lady Rebels. Thompson scored 11 of her game-high 18 points in the second half. She added six assists and led a group of three players in double-figures as Lenita Sanford netted 16, and Sandrine Nzeukou chipped in 13 points and seven rebounds.
UNLV turned 17 Bison turnovers in 22 points, while committing only six miscues. The Lady Rebels hit 44.8 percent from the field compared to 36.2 percent for NDSU. UNLV held a 40-34 advantage on the boards.
