In one year as an assistant coach at North Dakota State, Justin St. Clair has continued to establish himself as one of the premier throws coaches in the nation.

St. Clair made an immediate impact for the Bison in 2012, directing his student-athletes to 17 performances that rank among the school's all-time Top 10, including two new school records.

His athletes combined to win 21 places at the indoor and outdoor Summit League Championships in 2012, including capturing league titles in three of the six men's throwing events.

Under St. Clair's tutelage, sophomore Emily Lesser broke into the NDSU women's all-time Top 10 list in five different events in 2012, highlighted by marks in the discus and hammer throw that rank No. 2 in school history. In one year, Lesser improved her hammer throw personal best by 27 feet and added nearly 20 feet to her discus personal best.

Casey Orgon joined the NDSU men's all-time Top 10 list in four events in 2012, including school-record performances in the weight throw and hammer throw. Orgon ranked No. 28 in the West Region in the hammer throw in 2012 and No. 55 in the nation in the weight throw.

In previous stops at Duke University and Southeastern Louisiana University, St. Clair's athletes combined to set 30 school records and earn two All-America honors.

St. Clair enjoyed a decorated professional career in the javelin. He finished third at the 2007 U.S. Championships and moved on to compete in the Pan-Am Games, where he took seventh. He has competed in the U.S. Championships 11 times, including the U.S. Olympic Trials in 2000, 2004 and 2008. He also holds the javelin record at the North American Central American and Caribbean Championships where he won gold in 2007 and silver in 2002. St. Clair qualified for the 2007 World Championships, but fell short of the Olympic A standard.

St. Clair came to Fargo after spending two years as the Director of Sports Performance and Fitness at Strive Physical Therapy and Fitness in North Carolina. He was responsible for designing and implementing diet, fitness and assisting with rehabilitation programs as well as marketing and membership sales.

Prior to a one year stint as a Washington state trooper, St. Clair was an assistant coach at Duke University for one year. Working with the throwers, he coached five All-ACC performers, four NCAA East region qualifers, one NCAA All-American and four school record holders. He was also responsible for recruiting and meet management and assisted with the camp process.

He also spent two years at Southeastern Louisiana University, where his athletes set 26 school records and won three conference titles. He coached six NCAA qualifiers, including the first female athlete in school history to compete at the NCAA Championships, as well as one NCAA All-American. He also developed and mentored 10 all-conference athletes and a Danish national champion.

St. Clair started his collegiate career at the University of Washington before transferring to Boise State. He finished college as a four-time All-American in the javelin. He graduated from Boise State in 2002 with a degree in criminal justice administration. He then served as a volunteer assistant for the Broncos from 2002-2005.

St. Clair is Level II certified by U.S. Track and Field and also holds national certification from U.S. Weight Lifting and ACE Personal Training.

He married Keli Waterworth, a Thief River, Minn. native, in August of 2011. The couple resides in Fargo.
