North Dakota State Men's Basketball Signs Guard Taylor Baxter

FARGO, N.D.--Taylor Baxter, a 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard from Fieldcrest High School in Minonk, Ill., has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his education and play men's basketball at North Dakota State University. NDSU head coach Saul Phillips made the announcement Monday.

"Taylor is coming off a terrific senior year and has done nothing but continue to improve all season," Phillips said. "He brings good size, athleticism and versatility to our guard positions."

Baxter averaged 16.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game for a Fieldcrest team that finished 29-1 this year. He was named to the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association all-state first team and was Associated Press all-state second team.

Baxter is the third high school player to sign with North Dakota State for the 2010-11 season. Forwards Marshall Bjorklund of Arlington, Minn., and TrayVonn Wright of Waterloo, Iowa, inked with the Bison during November's early signing period.

"He fits terrifically with our recruiting class and has the combination of skill and work ethic that has served our program well," Phillips said. "Above all, Taylor is a winner who makes his teammates better."

North Dakota State was 11-18 last year and placed sixth in The Summit League with an 8-10 record. The Bison lost to Oral Roberts in the quarterfinals of the Summit League tournament.
