NDSU Women's Basketball Player Whitney Trecker to Receive Congressional Award

FARGO, N.D.--North Dakota State University women’s basketball player Whitney Trecker will receive a certificate of recognition from the United States Congress at the bi-annual Star of the North awards ceremony on Feb. 16 in Lakeville, Minn.

Trecker, a 5-foot-9 junior from New Prague, Minn., was one of many NDSU student-athletes who assisted with flood relief in the Red River Valley last spring. She will be recognized for her selfless and generous efforts.

Trecker was notified by Minnesota Congressman John Kline (2nd District, House of Representatives, Burnsville, Minn.) on Jan. 20.

Trecker is averaging 4.1 points and 3.6 rebounds for North Dakota State (10-9, 5-4 Summit League) this season. She has started the last two games for the Bison, who play at Centenary College (1-19, 0-9 Summit) on Saturday, Jan. 30 and at first-place Oral Roberts (13-7, 7-2 Summit) on Feb. 1.

Whitney, who is majoring in psychology with a minor in business, is the daughter of James and Anette Trecker. She was named to the 2008-09 Summit League Winter/Spring All-Academic team.
