GLASGOW, Scotland – Former North Dakota State All-American track athlete Laura (Hermanson) Januszewski will represent the United States at the Aviva International Match on Saturday, Jan. 30 in Glasgow, Scotland.

She will be the lone American competing in the 800 meters against 2008 Olympic semi-finalists Great Britain’s Jenny Meadows and Grenada’s Neisha Bernard-Thomas as well as Jana Hartmann of Germany and Rebecca Hogberg of Sweden.

Other Americans competing at the meet include 2008 U.S. Olympians Lolo Jones (60m hurdles), LaShaunte’a Moore (200m) and Chauntι Howard (high jump) on the women’s side and Shawn Crawford (200m), David Oliver (60m hurdles) and Miguel Pate (long jump) on the men’s side.

The Aviva International Match features one athlete in each event from the United States, Great Britain, Sweden, Germany and a Commonwealth Select team. It is a unique country vs. country format that features athletes from the different nations battling against each other to earn points towards their teams overall match total.  Last year, the Commonwealth Select team won the title.

Januszewski holds the NDSU record in both the indoor and outdoor 800 meters.  She was selected to the USA squad for this weekend’s meet based on her personal best and school record time of 2:04.44 set at the 2009 NCAA Indoor Championships.
