MONTEREY, Calif.--North Dakota State's Amy Anderson shot a 3-over-par 75 in the final round of the Drake Monterey Invitational but hung on to win her school-record fourth tournament of the season Saturday, March 20, at Del Monte Golf Course. Anderson, a freshman from Oxbow, N.D., finished the tournament 1-over with a three-round score of 217, six shots better than runner-up Olivia Lansing from Drake and 10 shots ahead of third-place Julie Aime of Lamar. Anderson and Lansing both shot 75s in the final round, but Anderson entered the day with a six-shot lead after tying her own school record with a 69 in Friday's second round. It was the fourth tournament victory of the season for Anderson, which is a new NDSU single-season record and ties the school's career record for victories set by Nikki Danielson from 1999 to 2003. North Dakota State struggled in wet conditions and slipped one spot to a sixth-place finish in the nine-team tournament with a 980. Lamar had three of the top seven finishers and edged Drake by two shots for the title, 930 to 932. Other Bison finishers were sophomore Jenna Schulte in a tie for 21st with a 244, sophomore Rachel Roller in a tie for 39th with a 257, freshman Cydney Hasselberg in a tie for 42nd with a 262, and junior Lauren Crumby in a tie for 48th with a 272. North Dakota State is off until April 12-13 when the Bison play in the Creighton Golf Classic at Oak Hills Country Club in Omaha, Neb. |
