ELMHURST, Ill. - North Dakota State's Casey Orgon was named The Summit League's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for his performance on Dec. 7 at the Dakota Duals, taking the initial award of the 2012-13 season.
Orgon, a senior from Bemidji, Minn., helped the Bison to two team victories in the double-dual format by winning the weight throw with a mark of 63-06.00 (19.35m), which ranks first in the league and fourth in the nation. His personal-best toss broke the school record he set last season and was also meet record by nearly eight feet.
Orgon also finished second in the shot put with a mark of 52-04.00 (15.95m), also a league best that ranks 40th in the nation.
The Athlete of the Week honor is the second of Orgon's career.
