FARGO, N.D. - Deborah John, Antoinette Goodman and Katie Johnson each won a pair of events to lead the North Dakota State women's track & field team at the Dakota Duals in the Bison Sports Arena on Friday evening.
The Bison won both duals in the double-dual format easily, defeating the University of North Dakota, 68-48, and the University of Mary, 62-48.
John set a meet record in the 60m dash with her winning time of 7.65 seconds, and she blew away the field with a hand-timed 8.44 seconds for a 60m hurdles title. She also ran a leg on NDSU's victorious meet record-setting 4x400m relay team with Melissa Kitching, Brittany Page and Ashley Tingelstad. The quartet finished in 3:55.69.
Goodman claimed the 300m dash title in 39.60 seconds and won the long jump with a mark of 18-07.75 (5.68m). Goodman and runner-up Tingelstad (39.84) recorded the second- and third-fastest 300m times in NDSU history.
Johnson swept the throwing events, winning the shot put with a meet-record toss of 47-10.50 (14.59m) and the weight throw with a mark of 50-09.50 (15.48m). Johnson's new personal best in the shot put is No. 4 all-time at NDSU.
Freshman Lexy Boschee made an immediate impact in the high jump, clearing 5-08 (1.73m) to win the event and move into No. 7 on the Bison all-time indoor list. Her jump of 5-08 matched the meet record set by Toni Tollefson one season ago.
One veteran and a pair of freshmen combined to sweep the top three places in the pole vault for NDSU. Junior Caitlin Mack took first with a clearance of 11-11.75 (3.65m), freshman Anna Benke was second at 11-05.75 (3.50m), and freshman Brittany Stangl was third at 10-11.75 (3.35m).
Sophomore Paige Stratioti, running unattached, recorded the sixth-fastest 600m time in NDSU history on her way to a first-place finish in 1:35.12.
Sophomore Melissa Kitching took first in the 400m dash, crossing the line in 1:00.46.
The Dakota Duals are scheduled to be the final track meet in the Bison Sports Arena. NDSU will open the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Complex with the Bison Classic on Jan. 12.
