Box Score FARGO, N.D.--Lisa Bue recorded her seventh career "double-double" with a game-high 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead North Dakota State to a 63-42 win over Western Illinois in a Summit League women's basketball game played Monday, Feb. 11, in the Bison Sports Arena.
NDSU (8-5 Summit, 13-10) won its fourth straight game and sixth out of the last seven to move into fourth place in the league standings.
Bue, a 5-foot-11 senior from Austin, Minn., scored 13 of her 22 points in the first half as North Dakota State raced out to a 34-16 halftime lead. The Bison are 12-6 when leading at the intermission this season.
NDSU took advantage of a cold shooting night by Western Illinois (9-4 Summit, 11-13), which didn't score in the first four minutes of the first half and went through another drought of over six minutes without a point. The Westerwinds shot only 21 percent from the field in the opening period and 25 percent for the game.
Meanwhile, the Bison hit 42.6 percent from the field and made 8 of 18 three-pointers. Bue connected on 7 of 11 field goal attempts including both three-point tries. She also made all six free throws. Brenda Slyt added 11 points including a trio of three-pointers.
Bue's effort on the boards helped North Dakota State hold a 41-28 advantage on the glass. Jerri Penley and Jill Zaruba each grabbed six rebounds.
The Bison had to overcome 22 turnovers, but saw Western Illinois commit 20 miscues. Bue sparked the NDSU defense and tied a career-high with four steals.
Western Illinois was paced by Lindsey Wutt, who came off the bench to score 10 points and grab five rebounds.
